Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Dates: New Classes begin Every Monday in Summer
Description:
Classes start any Monday and you choose the program length. Teens ages 14-17 are grouped in classes together. 20 hrs/wk of Spanish class in small groups. Private room and board with a Costa Rican family. Adult supervision is provided by the host family and the school staff in the form of curfew and parental waiver granting or denying independent weekend travel. Known as the Switzerland of Central America, Costa Rica has an abundance of natural beauty and is populated by a friendly, well-educated people. Costa Rica has obtained the highest standard of living in Central America by embracing democracy and disbanding its army. This small country is a paradise for nature lovers with many national parks, jungles, volcanoes, beaches and more rivers and water per square mile than any other country in the world, excluding New Zealand. However, the small pre-Colombian Indigenous population was wiped out by diseases brought to the new world by the conquistadors.
