Dates: New Classes begin Every Monday in Summer

Description: Classes start any Monday and you choose the program length. Teens ages 14-17 are grouped in classes together. 20 hrs/wk of Spanish class in small groups. Private room and board with a Costa Rican family. Adult supervision is provided by the host family and the school staff in the form of curfew and parental waiver granting or denying independent weekend travel. Costa Rica has obtained the highest standard of living in Central America by embracing democracy and disbanding its army. This small country is a paradise for nature lovers with many national parks, jungles, volcanoes, beaches and more rivers and water per square mile than any other country in the world, excluding New Zealand. However, the small pre-Colombian Indigenous population was wiped out by diseases brought to the new world by the conquistadors.

We are neither a language school nor a travel agent we're a hybrid of the two, a language travel organization. AmeriSpan has evaluated hundreds of schools, host families and destinations to determine which programs to offer. Our independence allows us to give you unbiased evaluations of the programs. We do not just list what is included, rather, we clearly state our opinions. Each program description contains a program review that describes what we like and what we don't like about the program.
