Description: In many ways, the future belongs to China, a country with a long history, large population, many cultures, and many political and economic changes over the past 25 years. It has experienced a rapid growth that has transformed this emerging country into one of the worlds superpowers. Imagine having the opportunity to study the ancient language of Mandarin while experiencing the historic transformation of the Chinese people firsthand. A country of striking natural formations and ancient architecture, China is an awe-inspiring, friendly, and delightful country. Discover this land of centuries-old temples and imperial palaces set amidst gleaming skyscrapers, and become part of one of the most dynamic societies in the world as you live with a host family and attend an academically elite school.

Highlights: Year and Semester Programs:
Students in this program are pioneers in an once-in-a-lifetime adventure. While your host school provides three months of specially arranged intensive Chinese culture and language classes, you will live with a typical Chinese family, share meals together, learn to speak Mandarin, and gain an intimate understanding of Chinese life that few foreign visitors achieve. School uniforms are required and classes are lecture style, with required classes in Mandarin, math, science, and physical education. While schoolwork can be rigorous, extracurricular activities will prove equally rewarding. These may include studying traditional martial arts, Chinese calligraphy, or Tai Chi; participating in sports; or hanging out with your friends. All these activities will help you develop a unique understanding of today's Chinese society.

Summer Homestay Language Program:
Learn Mandarin Chinese and have the opportunity to share your new language skills with your Chinese host family and friends. You will attend classes at a local school with other students to study Mandarin and other fascinating aspects of Chinese culture. As you make new friends and adjust to everyday life, you will be able to explore the bustling streets and unique lifestyle that is China.
