Description:
This school was established in 1980 and operates as an international Spanish language school for teenagers in the summer months. Outside of the summer, the school offers private English language classes for the people of Tarragona. The school is housed in a beautiful building on a broad tree-lined avenue (the Rambla Nova) in the very center of the town. The school is operated on two floors of the building and offers 10 spacious classrooms as well as a study area, students' lounge, computer room and a reception area, which is open from Monday to Friday, 10:00 - 13:00 and 16:30 - 20:30. In the computer room, students are free to use the Internet, which provides a source of current, authentic material to help develop Spanish language skills. School residence: (shared / private) with 3 meals daily.

School residence:
Our school residence is called Sant Jordi residence and is located in the city center and is less than a 10 minute walk from the school. Host Family:
Generally there are 1 or 2 students per room, per family, but a private room may be requested but are subject to availability. The family provides 3 meals daily, at lunchtime students will receive a packed lunch and all students receive a key to the family house. The families are located between 5 to 25 minutes travelling distance from the school. We recommend this accommodation option for older (15 years and over ), mature participants who have some previous international travel experience. We would like to point out that there is limited formal supervision provided by the host family, and the students are expected to travel to/from the school on their own every day - normally by public transit. A 30-day student bus pass, which allows four journeys per day, is included in the program fee.
Highlights:
Our teenager program takes place in the ancient Roman port city of Tarragona, on a rocky bluff above the Mediterranean the second oldest city of Catalonia. Tarragona is a pleasant, safe, coastal town (approximately 100-km south of Barcelona) and was once the former capital of the Roman province of Tarraconense with interesting Roman remains and was once the home of Julius Caesar. Tarragona today consists of an old quarter filled with interesting historic buildings, particularly the houses with connecting balconies. The old city is built on the southern side of a rocky hill, 67 meters high, which slopes gently down to the sea on the left bank of the Francol¡ river and is surrounded by Roman walls on three of its four sides. Tarragona has a population of around 115,000 and the town is lively, but not too big, making it a perfect location for a teenage program of this kind. It has its own sandy beaches within walking distance of the school; it is very close to Port Aventura (one of Europe's largest theme parks) and is only an hour from Barcelona by bus or train.
