Description: There are no formal Mandarin lessons in Beijing. The first week in Beijing is designated as the cultural programme for exploring and visiting tourist sites. Some of the major tours in Beijing will be to the Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Tiananmen Square, the Great Wall, Baiyun Guan (famous ancient Beijing Monastery) and Xidan Bookstore (largest in China).

Our summer language program commences in Qingdao for two weeks after visiting Beijing. The school in Qingdao is housed inside the Ocean University of Qingdao (Haiyang da Xiu). The main campus of the university is located right beside the beautiful Xiaoyu Hill and Huiquan Bay. The new campus was built in the hi-tech Industrial Park. All lessons and accommodation are provided on the university campus.

Accommodation in Beijing will be in a pleasant and good quality hotel called the Jasper Hotel. This hotel is actually the residence of Capital Norm University. Jasper Hotel is very close to the Shangri-La Beijing Hotel. Accommodations are situated in the city's financial district and surrounded by the charming Zizhuyuan garden.

All the student rooms in Jasper Hotel are equipped with private bathroom, TV set, telephone, a computer with free internet connection and an air conditioner. Some facilities available to the students at the hotel are: laundry, fitness Centre, indoor swimming pool, and commercial centre.

Most meals in Beijing are enjoyed at the hotel restaurant or other interesting restaurants nearby that specialize in the local Chinese cuisine.

Accommodation in Qingdao will be in a School residence in Ocean University (shared room) 3 meals daily.

Ocean University is located within the city of Qingdao. It is close to small shops and supermarkets, it is also 15 to 20 minutes to one of Qingdao's most beautiful beaches (there are 6 main beaches in Qingdao).

Highlights: Our program begins in Beijing for the first three nights. Students are then transferred to the city of Qingdao where the language lessons and more cultural acitivities and excursions take place. Students will study, live and explore in Qingdao for two whole weeks. After completing two weeks in Qingdao, students are transferred back to Beijing for another three nights of the program, and depart for home from there.

Beijing is the capital city, political and cultural center of the People's Republic of China. The city is situated in the northeast corner of China. Here you will find plenty of ancient Chinese history as there are many sights to see from Tiananmen Square, Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven, The Great Wall, and Lugouqiao (Marco Polo) Bridge just to name a few.

The city of Qingdao (which translates as Green Island) is designated as an important historical and cultural city by the government. The city of Qingdao today benefits from a rich history of colonial influence. Thanks to an era of German influence, the city is also famous as the beer capital of China - home to the popular "Tsingtao" beer. Qingdao is also a center of science, technology and art. Famous for its study of oceanology, Qingdao has a galaxy of 70 percent of China's oceanologists!
