Study Abroad in France

  France
  • Perpignan:
  • Perpignan

Durations of Program: 5-8 weeks, 3-6 months and 7-12 months
Dates: year: late August- early July; semester: early January- early July

Description: Everywhere you look, France offers a rich palette of art, history, and culture from ancient times to the present. You'll have the opportunity to perfect your French while learning about France's culture during these four-week summer programs. Both programs include a one-day arrival orientation, as well as an overnight re-entry orientation in Paris that includes a boat tour of the city.

Discover France:

Learn about life in France first-hand as you live with a host family for four weeks. You will have the opportunity to participate in group cultural activities. Additional optional activities may be available for a small fee.

Adventure and language course programs as well as year and semester options are available in over 35 countries.

Highlights: Your academic time in France will be spent at the lycee (senior secondary level), where students choose from the lycee d'education generale (academic school) or the lycee technique (professional education). At the lycee d'education generale, you will take compulsory courses. If you are placed in the second year of lycee, you may choose a course of study from literature and philosophy, economics and social sciences, or science and math.

At least three orientations will be offered to help you get the most from your experience. An arrival orientation will help accelerate your adaptation to your family, school, and French way of life. A mid-term orientation will help you evaluate what you have done and learned both academically and personally, and prepare you for the best use of your remaining time. A departure orientation will allow you to share with other participants what you have learned during your stay and prepare you for returning to the USA.
