AmeriSpan Teenager Abroad in Morelia, Mexico

  Mexico
  • Pacific Coast:
  • Morelia

Durations of Program: 1-2 weeks, 2-4 weeks and 5-8 weeks

Description: Diversity is the word that best describes Mexico's people and geography. Over 50 different indigenous groups, each with its own language, comprise 28% of Mexico's 83 million inhabitants. Divided by the Tropic of Cancer into the temperate North and the tropical South, the country boasts snow-capped volcanoes, jungle clad beaches, deserts, archeological ruins, modern cities, upscale resorts, and isolated villages.

Located about 4 hours from Mexico City or Guadalajara, Morelia is a university city with about 80,000 students studying at one of the four universities. Despite its size (pop. 800,000), the city is fairly compact, with everything of interest within walking distance of the central plaza. A climate of perpetual spring makes Morelia a nice destination.

School Facilities: A remodeled colonial house. 13 classrooms, outdoor patios where students take classes and socialize. Near downtown, a few blocks from the main plaza, a large park, post office, banks, various businesses, cafes. Capacity is 80 students/day.

Age Range: 16-18

Highlights: Good location and program for families traveling together

AmeriSpan Study Abroad's Mission Statement: Our mantra is "Every Language, Every Culture, Everywhere." AmeriSpan Study Abroad has over 15 years experience and over 30,000 past participants. Our staff has three passions: language, culture, and travel. Individually and as a group, we have accumulated experiences and knowledge related to these passions. AmeriSpan's staff has traveled to more than 65 countries, every continent except Antarctica, speak 10 languages, and we are happy to share this enormous amount of relevant knowledge with you. Every staff member has studied and/or lived abroad for extended periods of time. We are neither a language school nor a travel agent, we're a hybrid of the two: a language travel organization. AmeriSpan has evaluated hundreds of schools, host families and destinations to determine which programs to offer, and our independence allows us to give you unbiased evaluations of these programs. Our pledge to our participants is to make going abroad 'worry-free'. There is no risk in choosing an AmeriSpan program because you'll get the best program, best price and can cancel for any reason and get a full refund on every dollar we have received for your program.
