Description: WAYRA Spanish School is located at the beautiful Tamarindo Beach, on the west coast of Costa Rica, and offers since 1996 a full Spanish immersion program. Recognized as a DELE examination center and associated with the Instituto de Cervantes, we are the perfect choice for students that want to learn Spanish in a serious environment but at the same time would like to enjoy the beaches and the many outdoor activities such as surfing, snorkeling, canopy, kayaking, fishing etc.
Spanish classes are hold in beautiful classrooms with a lot of space and a perfect view to our amazing tropical garden where animals like Iguanas and Monkeys can be seen often. The school is located just one block from the beach. We offer different lodging options such as 3 student houses in Tamarindo that are all in walking distance to the school and the beach. In addition our students have the possibility to experience the real Costa Rican live staying with one of our carefully selected host families in the nearby towns of Villareal and Santa Rosa.

The Program

- All the teaching is carried out in Spanish. This enables the students to be totally immersed in the language while they are studying.
- Minimum stay of one week
- Groups are small, averaging 3 to 4 students (maximum 6 students per class)
- Courses begin every Monday
- The first day of class, all new students must arrive at the school by 7:15am to be evaluated and placed in their appropriate level and to complete any necessary paperwork.
- According to their progress, students may be moved to different groups, during the program, to maximize their learning
- WAYRA determines if the students attend the morning or afternoon session
- Morning sessions are from 8:00 am to 12:00 am and afternoon sessions are from 01:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Highlights: WAYRA has a special program for children. Depending on the age of the child, classes are a combination of educational field trips and classroom instruction using many visual and manual aids. It is recommended to make reservations for children's classes at least 8 weeks before classes begin.

The rates are the same as for the adults.

The children's program is created for children that can read and write up to 15 years old. We do not accept children under the age of 15 who are traveling alone. Any teenagers 16-18 wishing to attend our programs without their parents or other adult supervision should be mature enough to be self-sufficient and responsible for their own decision-making. For children that do not attend school, baby sitters are available upon request.

For parents traveling with children that do not attend school, baby sitters are available upon request. We can organize a nanny to take care of the children while the parents are taking classes. In some cases, the nanny may be a member of the host family. The nanny can take the children to the beach, children's park, or for a walk close to the school. Most of our nannies only speak Spanish. Prices for nannies are available upon request.
