Description:
The Hwa Chong International School (HCIS) resides in the largest campus in Singapore. HCIS is a new member of the Hwa Chong family, the educational powerhouse that attracts the best students from Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region. HCIS offers a six-year programme, Grade 7 (11-13 years old) to Grade 12, finishing with the Cambridge GCE A Levels. In the interim years, the students will sit for the IGCSE and the SAT. Their results in these examinations will enable them to gain admission into local and overseas universities. The General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level), or A Level , is the 'gold standard' of CIE qualifications. It has exactly the same value in admitting students to all universities as its UK equivalent. It is also accepted as an entry qualification by universities of the European Union, on a par with the French Baccalaureate, the German Abitur, etc. Admission Requirements All applicants have to complete a pre-admission diagnostic test in the subjects of Englsih Language and Mathematics. The diagnostic test is designed to determine an applicant's readiness for our programme and their abilities. Boarding Facilities Hwa Chong Institution Boarding School (HCIBS), consist of 7 six-storey Halls of Residence. Each level of every hall consists of two clusters, where a cluster mentor acts as parent to a group of 18-24 boarders. Each cluster has 3 four-bedded rooms and 3 two-bedded rooms. The creation of the clusters provides various levels of "community", starting from communication between individual boarders, to cluster of boarders and their hall mates, and to the entire boarding population of the Hall. Communal facilities within each cluster include lift access on every level, air-conditioned study room, shower and rest rooms as well as a pantry.
