Description: Welcome to Hutt Valley High School. HVHS is located in New Zealand's capital city, Wellington, and it has students from around the world. Take time to discover the interesting and vibrant capital city of New Zealand, with the exciting city nestled against the beautiful harbour and surounding hills.

HVHS is the largest school in Wellington, so it has a huge range of subjects, sports and cultural activities to choose from. We run many extra programmes for our international students, including a 5 day adventure camp which includes climbing, hiking and camping. This is included in the school fee.

Our host families will take care of you, give you all your meals and make you part of the family. HVHS only takes 40 international students every year (2% of the school roll) so our international students are a small and special group in our school.

HVHS has a long history of academic excellence. Our alumni include nobel prize winners, leading business people and top athletes. We also have an excellent English language programme. For the education experience of a lifetime, come to Hutt Valley High School.

Highlights: Hutt Valley High School has a strong academic record with strengths in Science, Mathematics, English and the performing arts - Music, Drama and Dance. We also have one of the best English language learning programmes in New Zealand. Including several courses that are not offered in any other high school in New Zealand: English for business studies, and a special English learners course in New Zealand Geography.

We take all our international students on a five day outdoor experience trip early in the year. This includes hiking, camping, rafting caving and climbing - it's a great way to make new friends and the cost is included in the tuition fee. Whether you plan to study in New Zealand for 2 months or for several years, we have courses to meet your needs.

Hutt Valley High School's Mission Statement: Hutt Valley High School is located in New Zealand's capital city, Wellington. It is one of the largest and oldest schools in the area, so there is a huge range of subjects, sports and cultural programmes to choose from. We limit our international students to only 40 each year, so we guarantee a special Kiwi experience. We have students who stay for a few months to others who stay for a few years. Some come for a Kiwi experience, others to improve their English. We can also ensure that you have a course that will allow you to enter a New Zealand or overseas university.
