LPI High School Study Abroad Programs
Description:
LPI programs emphasize language acquisition and cultural immersion for students at various levels of proficiency. Students have the opportunity to take classes at an accredited foreign university while living with a host family. LPI offers summer and custom programs to study in Spain, France, Mexico, and Costa Rica. In addition to the traditional month-long study abroad program for academic credit, LPI also offers shorter 2-week options to Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica, and France. We recognize that not all students have an entire month during the summer to study abroad; however, we do not want anyone to miss out on this type of experience. LPI has added a new language program location in Angers, France. This location has been open to customized LPI groups in the past but this summer it is available for all students. Please visit our website for more details!
Highlights:
LPI was established in 1989 to provide an academically challenging and culturally thorough study abroad program for U.S. high school students. Based in Austin, Texas, LPI reaches out to provide study abroad opportunities to students from across the United States. LPI works closely with fully-accredited foreign universities and the LPI resident staff in each program location in order to provide tutoring services, intercambio opportunities, and numerous possibilities for improving language performance. Through LPI, students are able to equip themselves with a working knowledge of a foreign language, earn college credit, experience another culture by living with a homestay, and explore the area around their program city through cultural excursions. The LPI staff believes in a service-oriented attitude towards study abroad. LPI helps each student throughout the entire study abroad process, from choosing the appropriate program, to completing the application process, to participating successfully in the study abroad experience. From a students initial contact with an LPI representative, we hope that he or she will quickly realize how important each individual student is to us. Each students request is taken very seriously and we are able to be flexible in order to meet each students specific needs. LPI believes that by studying abroad, students not only witness another culture, but they also experience it by living amongst the people who call that city home. Students encounter people from all walks of life with whom they are able to make a connection, either through similar interests, a shared laugh, or a long bus ride. We hope that students will gain a cultural understanding and personal independence that can only be achieved by living and studying in another country. Moreover, we hope that students will continue to reap the benefits of study abroad by encouraging cultural understanding in their own communities. LPI recognizes that this enlightening experience is becoming more and more of a precious asset as we encourage students to become valuable members of todays expanding global community.
