Description: LPI programs emphasize cultural immersion and language acquisition for high school students from across the United States. Students take classes at fully-accredited foreign universities, travel on weekend excursions, participate in cultural activities and language exchanges, all while earning college credit. LPI offers programs in Spain, France, Italy, England, Mexico and Costa Rica. LPI Global Impact programs are month-long summer programs that combine taking classes at the university with 40+ hours of community service, offered only in Costa Rica and Mexico.

LPI is committed to helping students have an unforgettable experience abroad academically, culturally and personally. LPI hopes that students will gain a cultural understanding and personal independence that can only be achieved by living and studying in foreign country. This enlightening experience is becoming more and more of an asset for students as they become valuable members of today's expanding global community.

Highlights: Learning Programs International, founded in 1989, is the high school division of the college study abroad provider International Studies Abroad (ISA). The full-time local resident staff in each program location is what separates LPI from most high school study abroad providers. In each location there is an LPI/ISA office staffed with bilingual and mostly native born staff members. Also, LPI students are enrolled in fully-accredited foreign universities which earn them up to six college credits.

In Spain, France, Mexico and Costa Rica students live with host families personally interviewed by the local staff. Living with a homestay provides the opportunity for students to experience aspects of the local lifestyle that are inaccessible to the average visitor, not to mention a great opportunity to practice the language. In Italy and England LPI students live in a residence hall and are accommodated in single or double rooms. The on-site LPI directors will also live in the residence hall providing the necessary supervision.

LPI (Learning Programs International)'s Mission Statement: LPI, the high school division of International Studies Abroad (ISA) was established in 1989 to provide an academically challenging and culturally thorough study abroad program for U.S. high school students. Based in Austin, Texas, LPI reaches out to provide study abroad opportunities to students from across the United States. LPI works closely with fully-accredited foreign universities and the LPI resident staff in each program location in order to provide cultural activities, tutoring services, language exchanges, volunteer opportunities, and numerous possibilities for improving language performance. Through LPI, students are able to equip themselves with a working knowledge of a foreign language, earn college credit, experience another culture and explore the area around their program city through cultural excursions.
