Abroadco's study abroad program in Paris allows high school students to earn college credit while take summer courses at The American University of Paris. Abroadco is the only program for high school students at this prestigious university. You will live and study in the City of Light, the center of European art and culture. Academics The French Language and Culture session allows high school students to get a head start on college by taking one 4-credit French class and one 3-credit elective taught in English. You will find plenty of time to practice your French with fellow students and the many class-related activities. The electives offer you the opportunity to experience Paris through the classroom, particularly with the painting and art history courses. Upon completion of the session, students will be issued an official AUP university transcript that will reflect 7 credit hours of coursework. We help you with every aspect of planning your experience, including course selection, travel planning with optional group flights, and providing you with an orientation on living and studying abroad. An Abroadco staff member will accompany students on the optional group flight. When you arrive in Paris, our Paris staff will greet you at the airport and provide onsite orientation during the first few days of your stay. Throughout your program, you'll enjoy Abroadco's many enrichment activities and excursions. Enrichment activities include visiting the museums, exploring the different arrondissements of the city, attending three music events, and. Excursions visit such destinations as Versailles, Giverny and the Champagne region. Once your program has ended, we will continue to work with you as you readjust to life at home. Housing and Meals You will live in a student residence hall, called a "foyer", located in Paris's 11th arrondissement. The foyer offers a vibrant, safe environment with easy access to the rest of Paris by métro and bus. Students will share double rooms on single-sex floors, with each room containing beds with sheets and blankets, a washbasin, closet, and desk and chairs. The foyer offers many amenities including sports facilities, a study with wireless internet connection, laundry room, and a TV/Music room. You will live in Paris's 11th arrondissement, near the trendy Oberkampf neighborhood. You will have the opportunity to experience how the Parisians live by shopping at local stores and traveling on Paris's famed métro and bus network. The foyer itself is located near the Père Lachaise cemetery, the final resting place of famous musicians (Jim Morrison and Chopin) and writers (Balzac and Moliere). Monday to Friday, all students are provided with breakfast and dinner at the foyer. Students may purchase lunch on their own at AUP or a nearby eatery.
