China

Dates: June 22, 29, July 6, 13, 20, 27, August 3, 10 2009
Description:
Our beautiful academic campus is located in the People's Square District. Only a ten minute walk from the Bund, it is ideally located in the heart of Shanghai.(Right off Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street). This is a charming section of the city characterized by leafy tree-lined streets, beautiful, old, crumbling European architecture, and crowned by the chic shopping street Huai Hai Middle Road. The area offers many upscale boutiques, cafes, bars and shopping centers. Our school is housed in a modern residential complex which provides a private garden, comfortable & modern classrooms and lounge areas. There are many restaurants, shops and cafes within walking distance. The three subway lines near the school provide easy access. Campus facilities include: * 22 Comfortable classrooms * Social areas / snack bar * Lounges & social areas * Computer lab & wireless Internet access * School garden with terraces Residence: (for ages 13-15) Residence includes: * Lodging in a residential complex * Single or twin rooms available * Bathroom shared with other students * Bed linens & towels included * Use of washing machine, TV, air-conditioning & kitchen * 3 meals per day (breakfast & dinner at residence) * Lunch & snacks taken at school * Monitors live-in residence and supervise students
Highlights:
Shanghai is probably the most evocative city for an outsider in the whole of China. Beijing may be more purely, mysteriously Chinese but only Shanghai offers such a heady brew of half-digested images and preconceptions. For the second city of the world's oldest surviving ancient civilization, Shanghai is surprisingly new. Literally 'On the Sea', Shanghai is a port city on the Huangpu River, where the Yangzi River empties into the East China Sea.
