Study German in the Stunning old Castle of Schonburg! Students will live & study in this old castle overlooking the Rhine Valley! Experience a unique atmosphere in this beautiful location. The campus offers excellent facilities and the school residence is also located within the castle grounds. The Schönburg Castle sits high above the town, one of the oldest strongholds in the Rhine Valley. Its history can be traced back to the 12th Century. The favorable location and extensive winegrowing enticed faraway monasteries to store their valuables in Oberwessel starting in the 13th Century. This camp offers international students (mainly from France,Italy,Eastern European & North America) to mix with German students of the same age, studying an English course. After classes they have the opportunity to sharing the program and all the facilities together. The campus language will be German! Highlights:
Oberwessel (population 5.000) the historic city on the Rhine River, is surrounded by an almost completely preserved city wall featuring gates and towers. Each day our summer students will enjoy the picturesque landscapes,historical sights and magnificent castles and towers of the region. Oberwessel is also one of the largest vineyard communities of the Central Rhine. On the 72 hectares of steep vineyards at the Schönburg Castle, the winegrowers cultivate above all Riesling, Müller-Thurgau and Kerner. The Upper Middle Rhine Valley was added to the list of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Students will discover the beautiful stretch of river landscape (65 km) between Bingen and Rüdesheim in the south and Koblenz in the north. Here you will find sloping hillsides where wine growing still prevails and at the bottom of which quaint villages and towns are picturesquely perched on the narrow ledges along the river's banks. Travellers from almost every continent and country have visited this valley of outstanding beauty. It is renowned and immortalised in the works of literati, painters, and musicians.
