Description: Nacel offers international students to study in a local public high school, living in a host family in the Paris area (about 40 km from Paris city centre). It will allow them to experience the everyday life of French students and discover the French culture and art de vivre. Students can also choose to study in a private boarding school in Cholet, Oloron Ste Marie or Rodez (emphasis on technical subjects and electronic): they will integrate the boarding quarters with their school friends during weekdays and will be accommodated by a host family on weekends and during school holidays.

School System
French secondary education is divided into two schools: the collège for the first four years directly following primary school; the lycée for the next three years. The completion of secondary studies leads to the baccalauréat. The director of the school decides which is the best class and level for the international student, taking into consideration the school organization, the students school transcripts and the level in French. The subjects to be studied are the following: Mathematics, French, 1st foreign language (generally English), 2nd foreign language (Spanish or German), Physics, Biology, History, Geography, Arts and Sport.

The boarding school can receive 180 students. Rooms are nice, clean but basic with bunk beds. There are two to four students per room. There are shared bathroom on each corridor. Meals: all meals are provided and students eat with each other in the school dining room. There is a choice of menu to please every taste.

*Extra-Curricular Activities and Weekends
Extra-curricular activities are an integral part of school life in St Jo. The school offers a vast range of after-school activities in which all students are encouraged to participate. Activities available include Athletics, Basketball, Handball, Badminton...

*Accommodation
From Monday to Friday, the host student will be staying at school, on a full board basis.
For the weekends, the bank holidays and the short holidays, he/she will be the host in a well selected family - the families get compensation to help covering food expenses.
During the half term holidays, the students can choose to go back to their home country (at their own expenses) or stay with the host families: long term notice is necessary.

The host family will be responsible for:
- Week-ends, bank holidays and short holidays accommodation
- washing clothes
- bringing support in case of illness or problems
- monitoring school results and liaising with the school and with Nacel.

*Eligibility
Applicants must be 16 to 18 years old on the day of arrival in France. He/she needs a minimum of two years of French studies with good grades.
It is important that:
* The student has previously visited a foreign country unaccompanied.
* His/her motivation counts for a great deal in the success of the stay.
* He/she should be willing to make new friends and to discover a new way of life.
* He/she has to be very open-minded and has a flexible attitude in order to adapt to the new school, the new family and a different way of life
