Putney Student Travel
Description:
A Tradition of Excellence: In our 56th year under the direction of the Shumlin family, with alumni in all 50 states and abroad, Putney continues to provide unusual opportunities for small groups of students to share an exciting, educational summer. Putney offers six categories of programs: Community Service, Global Awareness in Action, Language Learning, Cultural Exploration, Excel at Amherst College, Oxford/Tuscany, Paris/Provence, Madrid/Barcelona, India, and China, and our new Putney Foundations for 7th and 8th graders. What makes our work so rewarding are the letters and reports from our alumni saying that their summer with Putney was "the best summer of my life." Many parents describe their child's growth as "far exceeding the effects of a year at school." The maturity, self-confidence, and sensitivity towards others that most participants develop are derived from close friendships, personal discovery, and the tremendous satisfaction of conquering new challenges. Putney programs are special. They emphasize cultural immersion, learning by doing, having fun, getting off the beaten track, making friends, and giving something of yourself to others rather than touring or sightseeing. For over half a century Putney has been a pioneer in offering challenging, educational summers. As we mark our 56th year, we want to thank our thousands of loyal alumni, alumni parents, and program leaders for their contributions to the development of our unique educational programs and to the international reputation for quality and integrity that we cherish.
