Description:
Universidad Bolivariana is a private educational institution located in Santiago de Chile. The university was founded in 1988 during the reconstruction of civil society and transition to democracy. UB is a value-based community with a transformative approach to global and local development. We intend to be a university for a new era, dedicated to social transformation and the creation of a just society with equal opportunities for all its members. In a Latin American context Chile has long been considered one of the most stable and secure societies. When combined with its extraordinary natural beauty and unique geography, the country represents the perfect location for a non forgettable study abroad experience. UB offers international programs that are multicultural in scope and combine theory with practical experiences in order to secure the student a dynamic hands-on experience. In addition to the specific objectives of each program, the university promotes intercultural awareness, social and environmental conscience, and human scale development. Programs: 1. Thematic Field-Based Programs are two week/45 hour courses that combine class work with field-based ctivities in Santiago and in southern and northern Chile. The programs explore current themes with a critical approach to globalization and social change. 2. Year/Semester Abroad Program Take a Year/Semester Abroad in a Latin American university and practice your Spanish while studying with Chilean students. You enroll in regular courses choosing from the list below. In addition you participate in an academic excursion to the south of Chile and have the opportunity to do social work in a local NGO. 3. Interdisciplinary Course in Latin American Studies This course in Latin American Studies is designed for pre-university or first year university students with limited prior knowledge but strong interest in learning about the complex and fascinating continent of Latin America. The interdisciplinary character of the program ensures that you get insights into the most important aspects of Latin American culture, society, politics and economic development. Class hours are combined with educational visits and excursions in order to obtain a complete learning experience. 4. Regular Courses
