English for Academic Achievement

  United States

Durations of Program: 7-12 months, 1-2 years and over 2 years
Dates: August 15 - May 30

Description: Milo's English Language Learning Center (ELLC) provides a unique academic and cultural opportunity for success in the real world. The English for Academic Achievement program focuses on enhancing English skills and preparing individuals to move ahead in the global community. ELLC helps students improve English communication, exposes them to new culture, and allows them to make friends around the world.

MAA accepts international high school students who wish to obtain a high school diploma and students who have recently graduated from high school and would like to get a College Prep Certificate. Students who do not wish to pursue a high school diploma are welcome to enroll in the College Prep Certificate Program designed to help students achieve the TOEFL score necessary for university entrance. Students must be able to acquire a student visa and be able to enter the United States. (MAA provides documentation to acquire an I-20.)

Highlights: Nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in a beautiful valley, Milo's 475 acres are bordered on one side by the South Umpqua River and on the other three sides by forested hills.

Milo offers an enhanced curriculum with advanced courses that provide exceptional preparation for continued education. Classes include a variety of technology, art, music, and language courses. Over 95% of Milo graduates choose to go on to college. Many of them have already earned college credits by taking advanced placement courses in math, science, history, or English.

Milo's reputation as a friendly school continues from year to year. Encouraging hugs, prayer circles, and smiles are a way of life. The friendly atmosphere is a result of staff and students working together to keep Milo a safe, friendly, and nurturing environment for everyone.
