2-Week Winter Break Program in Ghana

Duration of Program: 1-2 weeks
Dates: December 28, 2008 to January 10, 2009

Description: Spend two weeks caring for orphans and participating in community clean-up and light-construction projects. This is a unique opportunity to do really important work while experiencing African culture.

What You will Be Doing
At the orphanage, you will take part in activities like: Playing games, Sports like soccer, Arts & crafts, Singing and dancing, and overall sharing your caring and love with the children. You will also volunteer part-time with environmental projects to improve local communities, by taking part in trash clean-up efforts, planting trees, light repair of school buildings and medical clinics.

Accommodation
In a shared volunteer house or homestay. The accommodation will be basic but clean. Food will be local Ghana cuisine (rice, vegetables, meat, fish, beans, fruit) with vegetarians and vegans easily accommodated. Accommodations are a 5-10 minute walk to the orphanage. For some of the environmental projects, you'll travel with us daily by trotro (12-person bus).

Where Is Ghana?
Ghana is a safe, traveler-friendly, and politically stable country in West Africa. Your program will be based in the Volta Region about two hours from the capital city Accra.

The program fee, airfare and other expenses are tax-deductible for US taxpayers, including for parents and donors who pay expenses on behalf of a volunteer.

Recruit 10 other volunteers and we will waive your Program Fee. Recruit 15 others and we will also pay for your round-trip airfare.
