Jerusalem
Duration of Program: 7-12 months
Dates: September - June
Description:
Finally! A long awaited alternative to the Israeli (Yeshiva) High School System. * Background Teenage education presents a great challenge to new Olim. Readjustment for teenagers into a new environment, language, social group and educational system often proves to be overwhelming. GMAX College Bound has been created to ease the burden and enhance the process of integration for teenage Olim. * The Program The GMAX College Bound program offers an English program that provides its students with a Religious atmosphere in which they can acquire all the credentials for entrance into University. The year is comprised of a high school education, preparation for the Psychometric examination (the Israeli university entrance exam), a complete Ulpan program that prepares students for the Hebrew Proficiency Examination and of course a high level of Limudei Kodesh. * Former Graduates We are proud to announce that our first two graduating years were met with fantastic success. The students were accepted into prestigious programs of their choices, excelled at their examinations, and had the opportunity to form a close-knit group of friends experiencing similar challenges. Thus, the students were able to support one another throughout the process of Aliyah, while succeeding at their studies and mastering Hebrew all at the same time! Today one may find Gmax College Bound graduates in all the various post high school Israeli programs such as: The Hebrew University, Bar Ilan University, IDF, Sherut Leumi, Yeshivot etc. Together, we hope to continue and assist teenage olim in making the most of their Aliyah experience.
Highlights:
The Gmax College Bound program offers a high school curriculum similar to those offered in American yeshiva high schools. Most classes are offered on both a standard high school level and a separate advanced level. All Gmax College Bound students take the GED in April or May. The GED is a test offered by Education Direct and the Center for Degree Studies. These institutes are licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Private Licensed Schools. The GED is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education as a nationally recognized high school equivalence exam. Students who pass this test are adequately accredited for higher education by the Israeli Board of Education. The Gmax College Bound program will prepare its students for the GED Exam to be taken in April or May. Preparations for this exam will take place primarily during the second semester.

Gmax Jerusalem's Mission Statement: We, at Gmax Jerusalem, encourage integration into Israeli society. We also understand that the many challenges facing teenage Olim can impede on the integration process for the entire family, and create a negative experience. We believe in providing our students with the tools to continue their paths successfully in the Israeli system after high school, while giving them the opportunity to maintain the confidence, social life and academic excellence that is often lost in the process of integration into Israeli high schools.
