Description: Catch the American school spirit! With World Study you can experience the excitement of high school life and be a part of a loving American family. Known for their friendly and welcoming nature, your new American friends and family will love including you on activities and outings. By participating in after-school activities, such as sports, music, theater or yearbook, you will make friends quickly. At school you can take advantage of the wide variety of courses offered - from Honors English Literature to Calculus, Auto Mechanics to Cooking, you will certainly find the right balance of subjects to fit your interests and needs.

World Study Group Southern Africa: We are there for you

Our American partner organization is a non-profit educational organization. Since 1980 they are enabling students to live and study all over the world for summer, semester and academic year programs.

Adjusting to a new culture and way of life is both challenging and rewarding. In order to ensure a successful stay in the United States, we provide you with a Community Representative who you can call anytime you have questions or problems.

Highlights: * Academic Year

By participating in the academic year program, you can perfect your American English language skills, become at home with the American culture and make lifelong friends. You will experience everything that the American school year has to offer - from the first day of school until the last, your year will be full of new adventures! You will return home with increased self-confidence, maturity and a new perspective on the world.

* Semester Program

If you would like to experience American culture without missing an entire school year, this is the right program for you. You can decide whether you would like to spend the fall or the spring semester in the United States. In the fall you will get to experience two of the Americans' favorite holidays : Halloween and Thanksgiving. In the spring, you can attend local baseball games and enjoy picnics in the park. Either semester will provide you with lifelong memories of an unforgettable experience!

* The Big Apple: Welcome Orientation in New York City

Times Square, the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty - all of this and more will characterize your first three days in the United States. By participating in our 3-day Orientation Program, you will start your academic program with a flight to New York City where you will meet other exchange students from around the world. After attending seminars, you will explore New York City together. At the end of the orientation program you travel to your host family in order to continue your American experience!

    * Pre-Departure Orientation for both the student and the natural parents
    * Welcome Orientation in the USA upon arrival (host community)
    * Placement with one of our carefully selected host families
    * Organizational support during your time abroad including individual community representatives in the USA
    * Enrollment into a local American High School
    * School fees/tuition (excl. laboratory fees, activity fees, sport fees, school supplies)
    * Full Medical Health Insurance for the duration of stay in the USA

    This Program is open to South African Participants.
