Description: The Spanish language immersion program offered by ASA in Barcelona, Spain, is a uniquely memorable residential summer study program for enveloping yourself in the Spanish language and culture.

This ASA Summer Study Program is located in the charming seaside capital of Catalonia, where:

* students will enjoy a Mediterranean climate in a city that is cutting edge and cosmopolitan
* some of the world's best known museums are located, such as El Museo Picasso and Fundacio Miro
* Picasso, Miro, fellow artist Salvador Dali and architect Antoni Gaudi cited the beauty and grace of Barcelona as inspiration for their creative careers

As a Spanish language immersion program student, you will improve your language skills and gain an intimate knowledge of Barcelona's history, culture, people and customs. From the narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter to the magnificent promenade that leads to the port (Las Ramblas) and the modern shops and cafes of Passeig de Gracia, Barcelona possesses a unique energy and style and is, quite simply, a great place to soak in the language and culture of Spain.

Highlights: Barcelona was the site of the 1992 Olympic Games and has a newly developed port and pristine beaches. While spending your summer in the Residencia Universitaria Sarrią, Barcelona's most sought-after student residence, ASA Spanish immersion language students will:

* learn Spanish at the world-renowned UAB Idiomes Barcelona
* have full access to the latest in audio-visual equipment as well as the university library and computer lab
* enjoy specific cultural workshops including Spanish Cinema; Ideas & Cultures of Spain; 20th Century Spanish Art & Architecture; Spanish Literature; and the intriguing Barcelona, Spain, and the European Union
* live in air-conditioned, double rooms with private bathrooms; also onsite are a library, theater, computer room, activity lounge and a rooftop swimming pool - the full collegiate experience
* participate in activities at the sports center (next door to the residence hall) including soccer, tennis, swimming and workout equipment
