Eco-Green: Environmental Studies and Community Service

  United States

Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks

Description: Give back to the community while gaining valuable knowledge about our environment. Abbey Road has partnered with numerous Los Angeles and Santa Barbara-based environmental organizations to bring you our Eco-Green program, which will better the environment and you! This program is designed for students in grades 9-12 who possess a strong desire to enrich the world we live in by giving something back to the environment, while at the same time gaining valuable knowledge that will last a lifetime. You will do more for the environment in these 2 weeks than most people do in a lifetime!

Abbey Road students and staff live together in a highly sought-after student residence located just two blocks from the University of California, Santa Barbara campus. The university village is steps away from the ocean and is full of cafes and restaurants that border the college campus. You will enjoy all of the comforts of dormitory apartment living an on-site pool, recreation room, high-speed internet, cleaning service and modern dining hall.
The daily schedule varies based on the environmental project for that day, but typically the Eco-Green seminars will take place on weekday mornings. In the afternoons you will have options for various recreational and fun activities such as sports and cooking workshops. From pool parties and ping pong to movie nights, you will have plenty of opportunities to not only spend time with your new Abbey Road friends, but to also meet other teenagers from all over the world.

Highlights: Los Angeles and Hollywood!

During the travel extension to Los Angeles, several mornings will begin with a trip to the headquarters of Tree People where students will learn about the theory and practice of reforestation. They will take part in the "Million Trees" initiative with the mission of effectively combating the Los Angeles smog crisis by planting trees in various neighborhoods.
