Description: English as a First or Second Language has become increasingly popular throughout the world. American Language Programs, Inc. was created to offer the best method of learning English in the least amount of time through our method of total English language immersion. Students from all over the world, ages twelve to eighty years old, professional and non-professional gain rapid facility in their use of English as a Second Language through our unique method of English language immersion. Students live (homestay) in the home of their own, qualified English teacher. They live the 'American life' interacting with their American family in a totally English environment while they receive private, intensive English lessons of 15 to 25 hours per week from their own teacher in her/her home. Lessons and vocabulary are needs-based and personalized to suit each student individually.

ALP-Massachusetts welcomes you to Boston, Massachusetts---America's Walking City! Yes, it's true. If you follow our Freedom Trail (a red line throughout the city) you will see a multitude of historical and cultural sites. Soon, you can visit one of America's oldest cities, visit sites our Nation's earliest history while receiving intensive, private English lessons in the home of your very own teacher! After your lessons visit Boston's Fenway Park (Red Sox Major League Baseball), Back Bay (renowned for its brownstone buildings), shop in elegance on Newbury Street after a stroll nearby at our two large Boston Commons (Gardens - complete with swan boats in summer and spring), visit the charming North End for an fine Italian dinner or view the Tall Ships docked at our Charlestown Navy Yard (see historic USS Constitution). For a change of pace, take a day trip to old Cape Cod that lies south of Boston. There you will find pristine, quaint towns with a New England flare. You can shop in charming stores and satisfy your culinary desires with some of our world renown seafood (New England lobsters) or listen to the surf as it pounds Cape Cod's picturesque shoreline beaches. All of this awaits you!

Highlights: American Language Programs is a private homestay program wherein students stay in the homes of their American teachers. There, they receive individualized teaching according to their level of ability in English. The emphasis of our program is that students have the opportunity to 'practice what is preached!' In other words, their entire stay is practice in using English.

Standard: Our most popular program, the Standard Program is designed for an eager teenage student, young adult employee or the retired executive. ALP allows flexible, private teaching hours of 15, 20, or 25 hours English study per week/family with homestay/meals included. Additionally, students receive one excursion per week to a nearby Boston area attraction with their host family.

Business and specialized vocabulary: This program is designed for the busy executive/professional. Teachers employ specialized vocabulary and teaching aids to better familiarize the student with our American corporate scheme. This accommodation includes the above standard accommodation as well as specialized vocabulary, instruction, and opportunity to participate in and witness first hand American business culture whenever possible. The accommodations are slightly better than in the standard booking and it is prime for professionals in any field.

Deluxe: The ALP Deluxe Program is the most prestigious accommodation possible at an affordable price. The deluxe accommodation includes the above standard and business & specialized vocabulary programs while also offering the finest accommodations and meals. Students can enjoy private bath/shower as well as a prime location with this program. Gourmet dinners, meeting interesting people, and more sightseeing are only a few of the advantages of our Deluxe Program. Medical reservations- ALP will assist students in preparing for medical appointments in the U.S. Our teachers/ALP can locate specialized doctors in our medical metropolis, Boston, Massachusetts; Miami, Florida or Phoenix, Arizona. We can provide assistance with medical information forms as well as telephone contact and histories. Many people in Europe and Asia realize that some of the most innovative and cutting edge programs in medicine come from the U.S.A.

TOEFL and Exam Preparation/Application- ALP teachers are all qualified to prepare students for the TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreign Language) and the LLM (Master of Law-"L. Legum Magister"). Specialized workbooks, cassette tapes, computer programs as well as targeted teaching are used to prepare students to do his/her best on these important exams.

University Application & Preparation- We understand that finding and applying to the right university is not an easy task. Therefore, we have designed programs wherein teachers help students fill out applications, write essays, and prepare for their interviews while English is learned to its highest possible degree. There, they receive individualized teaching according to their level of ability in English. The emphasis of our program is that students have the opportunity to 'practice what is preached! In other words, their entire stay is practice in using English. Their teacher and homestay host is a very qualified teacher usually with many years of training/experience and one or more academic degrees from well-known American colleges or universities. Students become immersed in the daily lives of their "new" family and practice English their entire stay. Lessons are private (one-on-one) and scheduled at the discretion of teacher/student. Meals and trips are with the teacher and his/her family. This method of perfecting a second language has proven to be very successful and numerous studies support this.
