Namibia - 3 Day Etosha Link

  • Windhoek

Duration of Program: 1-2 weeks
Dates: All Year - Please Email Us

Description: Day One:
Windhoek to Okaukuejo camp, Etosha National Park (450 km) (LD) (camping)
You will be collected between 08:00 & 08:30.

A long drive this morning, we will travel north passing through farmland and stopping at small towns along the way, we aim to arrive at the main camp in Etosha, Okaukuejo, Etosha in the middle afternoon.

After entering Etosha we game drive our way through to the Okaukuejo camp where we will check in and make camp.

After your evening meal there are still more chances to see Etosha's big game at Okaukuejo's floodlit waterhole, situated on the boundary of our camp and easily reachable on foot.

Okaukuejo is famous for its waterhole, which has been described as one of the "best game viewing opportunities in Southern Africa". Situated on the doorstep of our camp, black rhino, elephant, lion and numerous species of antelope are usually seen.

Day Two:
Okaukuejo East Etosha, Namutoni region (BLD) (camping)

A full day's game driving today and we leave early to enjoy the cool morning air as we game drive our way through Etosha to Halali camp, situated in the middle of the park.
Along the way we visit several waterholes and are afforded splendid views of the massive Etosha Pan. The game viewing is usually excellent and we have the chance to tick off a few new species that are not normally seen on the Okaukuejo side of the park.

We stop at Halali camp for a rest and a leisurely lunch and there is time to visit the Halali waterhole and to make use of the swimming pool and bar facilities before continuing to the eastern side of the park and our camp in the Namutoni region.

Day Three:
East Etosha Windhoek (500km) (BL)

A long transit back to Windhoek, we are travelling on the main road, passing through towns and rural areas and we will make time to make a stop in the small town of Okahandja, the home of Namibia's largest wood carving market. The stalls operated on a local co-operative basis and are one of the best places to shop for truly Namibian souvenirs.

We are due back into the city around 16:00 and you will be dropped off at your accommodation on our return.

Namibia - 3 Day Etosha Link

Highlights: This safari is designed to offer a quick "snapshot" of Etosha National Park. There is a guaranteed departure every Saturday of the year, with a minimum of 2 people. There is no single supplement, and the price is virtually fully inclusive of everything you will need whilst travelling with us. The style is limited participation, assisted camping. Collection time is between 08:00 & 08:30 from anywhere within the Windhoek city limits.

This safari can also be combined with our 3 day Sossusvlei Link to make an unforgettable 6 day "Taste of Namibia" safari. To make a comprehensive 10 day itinerary, combine this with our 7 day Southern Swing itinerary. Two of the world's natural wonders, the Okavango Delta and the mighty Victoria Falls can also be included by combining this trip with our 8 day Delta and Falls Safari.

Etosha, which was declared a game reserve by the German kolonial administration back in 1907, covers an area of more than 22 000 sqkms. In its centre lies a vast saltpan surrounded by grass and thorn savannah, Mopane bushland in the west and dry forest in the north-east. About two million years ago, this area was an enormous lake, fed by the Kunene river. However the lake slowly dried up because over time, the river changed its course.

Be it a lion or an elephant, a giraffe or a zebra; almost all African animal species are represented in the huge nature reserve, approx. 22 000 square kilometres in size. There is an estimated number of 250 lions in the park, 300 rhinos, 2 500 giraffes, 6 000 zebras and more than 2 000 elephants. The dainty springbok are especially numerous; at least 20 000 of them roam the reserve. Often, they can be observed in enormous herds of several hundred animals.
