Description: Indonesia's motto is "unity in diversity"--appropriate for a nation whose population includes some 300 ethnic groups speaking more than 500 languages and dialects, stretching across the world's largest archipelago: 17,000 islands; 11,000 of which are uninhabited. There's a wealth of culture to explore while you're here, such as the dress (sarongs, kebayas, batik shirts, and songkoks) and the wonderful cuisine which combines techniques and ingredients from Indonesia, the Middle East, China, and Europe. AFS host family placements are located throughout Indonesia.

Experience the day-to-day life as a student in Indonesia. You will attend a local high school and be able to get to know your local community. You will make new friends and gain life-long connections, both with classmates and your host family. AFS students are placed with volunteer host families located throughout Indonesia.
