Description: Rassias Language Programs features six exciting opportunities to study and travel abroad for high school age students and one domestic program for students of all ages. For high school students who have completed a minimum of two years of French or Spanish or who are beginners or above in Chinese, we offer two programs in France, three programs in Spain, and one Chinese program. For students ages 8 to 16, we offer multiple languages in the US

Highlights: Each program features travel in the country of choice, a homestay of up to 18 days, and Rassias Method language classes. Our teaching staff are all Rassias trained teachers. Our method of teaching has been developed by John Rassias of Dartmouth College and emphasizes learning the language through intensive,active, student-centered classes where speaking the language is the mode of learning - it is how we all learned our native language and how the brain best learns languages.

Our host cities, Tours in the Loire Valley and Arles in Provence plus Segovia, Gijón and Pontevedra in Spain and Gyalthang (Shangri-La) in China, provide the backdrop to the core of our programs. Each city where we have host families is the home of good friends. It is their job to select host families and arrange cultural events as it is those people who best know their home regions!

We look for students honestly motivated to perfect the target language. Grades are not a measure of this as much as the spirit of the student. We don't give tests, grades or homework, preferring that students spend time with their host families versus studying alone. We also recognize that mistakes are a natural way to develop confidence and competence in a language and that fear of speaking can come from the worry of making a mistake.

Students studying in France and Spain should have 2 or more years of the target language. Exceptions are made for those with a second language background. Students going to China may be beginners to more advanced. In all locations we teach at 2 or 3 different levels.
